Climate Change and Mental Health

Among the expected consequences of climate change are extreme weather events, increased sea levels, and the melting of glaciers all of which can lead to an increase in the number of flooding disasters that will impose greater burdens on vulnerable populations. This article reviews the epidemiological literature concerning climate-related flooding and mental health in developing countries. It also examines what is being recommended. All studies show that there are serious mental health problems following flooding events and this gives us good grounds to raise mental health issues in a disaster response.

EAP Services Against Bullying

We celebrated Pink Shirt Day in May, which focussed our attention on the prevention of bullying and harassment.

One of our Relationship Managers, Simon Diprose, was a speaker at the Breaking Down the 'B' word - Networking and Fundraising Event in Hamilton.

Simon’s topic of discussion was on how having an EAP programme in place assists businesses with supporting staff and preventing bullying in the workplace. We hope that the insight and resources shared on the day, as a token of support for the anti-bullying campaign, will make a difference.
